The tradition is back! What a wonderful event with many participants, people along the street throughout Cool Air cheering on the parade participants and the Tree Lighting at Mineral Lodge with Hot Cocoa for all! Thanks to Jan Gravier for bringing the tradition back, which was especially appreciated by all of the new families with children and those who remember the parade from the past.
The Fire Truck from Payne's Creek opened the parade, followed by Linda with the California flag with Lisa and family following with the Mineral Flyers float. Honorary Mayor and Grand Marshal Pam represented Mineral driving her tractor. Family members from both the Mineral Lodge and Mill Creek Resort were in the Parade, along with quite a few community members who joined along. Cheryl pushed her well lighted snow shovel (yes, the entire way!) Santa, Mrs. Claus and the Chief Elf were a big hit pulling up the end of the parade and stopping at Mineral Lodge for photos afterwards. Thanks to Lefty for serving as Rudolph and driving them!
Over at Mineral Lodge, we gathered to light the tree, take pictures with Santa and Mrs. Claus and the Chief Elf and have Hot Cocoa. Santa's family was present, representing the 2nd, 3rd and 4th generations since their grandfather/father founded the Church Camp!
Thanks to Kamile for making the float signs, Max for the glow sticks, Lisa for the backdrops, Lassen Mineral Lodge Restaurant for the delicious Hot Cocoa, Rachael, Brandy and Avery for making sure the tree got up and Lefty for carrying on the tradition of his father by lighting it. Thanks for so many people coming out to be in and support the Parade and also to support the Lassen Mineral Lodge by filling up the restaurant throughout Thanksgiving, Friday and the weekend. It makes a big difference and is greatly appreciated!
Winners of the Lodge gift certificates for the float entries were the Claus Family, Mill Creek Resort (with their family truck with tree, rocking chair and family members) and Cheryl, dutifully pushing her decorated snow shovel - ready for the season!
As always, a big thanks to the extended Glenn Family for everything they do for all of us in Mineral, during the holidays and all year long.
See you next Thanksgiving weekend on Friday at 4 PM!

According to the the Surgeon General's Advisory (2023), "Loneliness is far more than just a bad feeling—it harms both individual and societal health. It is associated with a greater risk of cardiovascular disease, dementia, stroke, depression, anxiety, and premature death. The mortality impact of being socially disconnected is similar to that caused by smoking up to 15 cigarettes a day,4 and even greater than that associated with obesity and physical inactivity. And the harmful consequences of a society that lacks social connection can be felt in our schools, workplaces, and civic organizations, where performance, productivity, and engagement are diminished. Given the profound consequences of loneliness and isolation, we have an opportunity, and an obligation, to make the same investments in addressing social connection that we have made in addressing tobacco use, obesity, and the addiction crisis. This Surgeon General’s Advisory shows us how to build more connected lives and a more connected society."

Statement from Tehama County Supervisor Pati Nolen October 29, 2025
It has been the honor of my life to serve the people of Tehama County’s Third District. From the day I was sworn in, my goal has always been to listen, advocate, and work tirelessly for the residents who placed their trust in me. I wanted to bring more economic development to Tehama County along with broadband. I wanted to work with Federal and State agencies to stop the flooding in Dairyville. I wish we had a better relationship with the Paskenta Band of the Nomlaki People. I wanted to bring relief to the 4500 citizens living in mobile home parks without any protection of any kind from unfair rent increases, unlike most homeowners or even apartment renters who do have protection. I wanted fiscal responsibility so we can fund the staffing of the new jail without a new tax. I wish my efforts had the full support of the Board. This year has brought tremendous personal and financial strain as I have worked to defend myself against false allegations that I continue to firmly deny. Unfortunately, the mounting cost of a prolonged legal battle would come at too great a price to my family. After careful consideration, I have chosen to step down from my position so that I can preserve what matters most, my family’s well-being and the values that guided me into public service. This decision does not reflect guilt or wrongdoing, but rather a recognition of the harsh reality that continuing to fight the District Attorney's unlimited resources would exhaust the personal and financial supplies of those I love. I remain proud of the work accomplished during my tenure, from improving transparency and communication with constituents to advocating for fair and accountable governance. I am very proud of every Department Head hired during my tenure. I want to thank the residents of District 3 for their support, their honesty, and their faith in me throughout my time in office. It was an absolute privilege to serve you.
In preparation of her upcoming concert, Jackie hosted Mineral's residents at Battle Creek Ranch for a concert.

For safety reasons, the tall, dry Ponderosa on Beresford is coming down. Limb by limb the tree is being brought down rather than by falling due to the complex field of electrical and phone wires surrounding the home.

ANNUAL EVENTS
DUMPSTER DAY: On Saturday, three dumpsters full of pine needles, branches, sticks and pine cones went bye-bye. Thanks to everyone who helped reduce fire fuels around town! Green Waste kindly left a 30-yard dumpster that was not filled at the old gas station following the event. We have no idea how long it will remain or how long it will take to finish filling it. Please do not put stumps, plastic bags, or other trash into this dumpster. Even though fuels were reduced, the job is far from over. Clearing yards and public areas can starve vegetation fires or live embers of fuel. If you need help raking, reach out to the Raking Club at Breakfast Club or by emailing mineralcalifornia@gmail.com
MINERAL COMMUNITY FIREWISE MEETING: Saturday, July 5th, at 1 PM at the Schneider Ballfield. Click here for more information.

The second focused on various parts of the US Forest Service's West Lassen Headwaters Project, one of which involves spraying 7 herbicides (including two forms of glyphosate) to prevent recurrence of invasive plants throughout 200,000 acres in Plumas, Shasta, and Tehama Counties following the Dixie and Park Fires. Thanks to Lefty, Mineral has new signs!
In 2024, community members and visitors Lassen welcomed the sign "Mineral Gateway to Mt. Lassen" which also notes elevation of 4918. The sign can be found on the North side of the 36 Highway on the "Snow Hill" just before Lassen Mineral Lodge restaurant.
Now as of 2025, visitors to the Cool Air area, south of the 36, are welcomed by the Cool Air sign, indicating Est. 1928.
Not only does it look great, but we're learning, too!

It's great to see the potholes being filled in Mineral.
This is the first step.
They say they'll be back to seal the road where they filled.
Thank you!

One trash bin and one recycling bin are in front of the old gas station for paying customers of Green Waste of Tehama County services. Each week this month, the trash has been overflowing, as non-paying customers continue to add trash to both the trash and recycing bin. Residents have been seen picking up trash strewn around using tongs and their own trash bags. Electrical waste remains at the site. It appears that writing on the official signs and unofficial signs have been taped to the bins out of frustration for having no public place for waste collection. No yard waste bins are available.
Big meetings in Battle Creek and your presence and your voice is critical. We all care deeply about our home and locals need to come out in force to demonstrate our commitment and concern for the watershed. This is too important for our future to sit on the sidelines.
