The tradition is back! What a wonderful event with many participants, people along the street throughout Cool Air cheering on the parade participants and the Tree Lighting at Mineral Lodge with Hot Cocoa for all! Thanks to Jan Gravier for bringing the tradition back, which was especially appreciated by all of the new families with children and those who remember the parade from the past.
The Fire Truck from Payne's Creek opened the parade, followed by Linda with the California flag with Lisa and family following with the Mineral Flyers float. Honorary Mayor and Grand Marshal Pam represented Mineral driving her tractor. Family members from both the Mineral Lodge and Mill Creek Resort were in the Parade, along with quite a few community members who joined along. Cheryl pushed her well lighted snow shovel (yes, the entire way!) Santa, Mrs. Claus and the Chief Elf were a big hit pulling up the end of the parade and stopping at Mineral Lodge for photos afterwards. Thanks to Lefty for serving as Rudolph and driving them!
Over at Mineral Lodge, we gathered to light the tree, take pictures with Santa and Mrs. Claus and the Chief Elf and have Hot Cocoa. Santa's family was present, representing the 2nd, 3rd and 4th generations since their grandfather/father founded the Church Camp!
Thanks to Kamile for making the float signs, Max for the glow sticks, Lisa for the backdrops, Lassen Mineral Lodge Restaurant for the delicious Hot Cocoa, Rachael, Brandy and Avery for making sure the tree got up and Lefty for carrying on the tradition of his father by lighting it. Thanks for so many people coming out to be in and support the Parade and also to support the Lassen Mineral Lodge by filling up the restaurant throughout Thanksgiving, Friday and the weekend. It makes a big difference and is greatly appreciated!
Winners of the Lodge gift certificates for the float entries were the Claus Family, Mill Creek Resort (with their family truck with tree, rocking chair and family members) and Cheryl, dutifully pushing her decorated snow shovel - ready for the season!
As always, a big thanks to the extended Glenn Family for everything they do for all of us in Mineral, during the holidays and all year long.
See you next Thanksgiving weekend on Friday at 4 PM!
